Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • People management of two teams within Software Engineering, Business Intelligence and Data Science, that are responsible for providing data platform  capabilities
  • Build, coach, and maintain a best of class engineering team within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Serve as a career and professional development coach to Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and BI Engineers, and a mentor to help them develop the technical and analytical skills required to complete their job.
  • Provide frequent forms of performance feedback to individuals to foster rapid, relevant and actionable development tasks.
  • Leverage development frameworks such as continuous integration and test-driven development to enable the rapid delivery of working code and visualizations.
  • Participate in agile processes to get work accomplished and help serve as an Agile/Scrum advocate for the department.
  • Stay abreast of advancements in related software engineering, data science, and business intelligence technologies.
  • Recommend engineering best practices and assess feasibility and ramifications of new business requirements.
  • Administer various HR functions for the team such as conduct performance reviews, 360 feedback surveys, approve timesheets and paid time off, performance improvement plans, etc.
  • Act as an escalation path for team impediments and help motivate the teams to solve their own problems.
