Job Description

Required Qualifications

    • 5+ years of commercial and/or academic programming experience.
    • Experience with machine learning/data science.
    • Bachelor s Degree (Engineering/Computer Science preferred but not required); or equivalent experience required
    • PhD in a related field is desired, not required
    • Hands on experience with Entity Resolution, Record Linkage, Entity Extraction, Information Extraction, Named-Entity Recognition and/or Search.
    • Experience developing research grade prototypes or production ready software
    • Experience publishing papers and/or patenting novel work.
    • Experience managing researchers and/or graduate students.

Desired Qualifications:

    • Experience with a functional programming language (Scala, F#, Haskell, Lisp, Racket, etc.)
    • Experience in a data science friendly programming language (Python, R, Java, Matlab, etc.)
    • History as Associate Professor or Research Team Lead
    • Experience with Geolocation, Geocoding and/or Geotargeting

Key Responsibilities

    • Assume lead researcher role for Safe Banking Systems research projects. Track researcher progress, manager KPOs and researchers, track ideas and future projects, align growth of researchers with project deliverables, surface when research is a dead end .
    • Develop area of research and contribute to the Research Team's output
    • Meet regularly with SBS Product and Product Tech leaders to align research strategy with product and technology strategy.
    • Identify and facilitate publication and/or patent worthy work and facilitate publication or patenting.
    • Facilitate academic conference attendance of research group.

Skills / Competencies

Lead Researcher must manage the progress of our research group and supervise our research team. Has accountability for the performance and results of a squad within own discipline or area of responsibility. Works with leadership to adapt to departmental plans and priorities to address resource and operational challenges. Establishes development programs for their team that is focused on increased skills and knowledge and is focused on growth.
