The ETL Developer will be responsible for executing our mission to help our partners and customers succeed by building a data foundation that brings visibility to our business operations and enabling its execution, optimization and automation through reliable and accessible data. Towards that end, the developer will map and extract business data from complex XML and SQL data sources into the data warehouse, build data marts oriented towards data consumption for business intelligence and analytics, configure and manage the technical architecture supporting this data foundation. This role includes analysis of data sources, providing effort estimates, configuration, and development of data extraction, transformation and load components, testing of developed components to ensure quality and reliability, documentation and support. The developer will collaborate with the project and support team, including business & data analysts, data architect, project manager, delivery manager, and other developers to deliver the work.

Responsibilities:

  • Review and understand data requirements
  • Study and understand XML and relational data structures
  • Create technical design documents where applicable and review them with the team for inputs
  • Map and extract data from XML and SQL source to target per requirement
  • Configure data marts
  • Collaborate with business analyst and testers to have test data created on the source for applicable business scenarios
  • Use the test data to verify whether the extracts are yielding correct results
  • Troubleshoot and fix problems
  • Identify and escalate potential issues with mapping approach
  • Perform code reviews
  • Assist in release planning and deploying changes to higher environments
  • Verify that the changes are working in the deployed environment
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Provide status updates on assigned work, inform on any impediments blocking progress on the work
  • Assist in planning by providing effort and time estimates
  • Triage and troubleshoot reported issues. Identify root cause and necessary corrections.
  • Study and understand Duck Creek Policy and Insights technical architecture and its data structures
  • Develop an understanding of IAT business and business data
  • Identify and document source data structure patterns and corresponding mapping and transformation approaches
  • Ensures adherence to standards, practices, and methodologies adopted by the team
  • Perform other tasks as needed
