Description

The Enterprise Data Governance Manager provides operational support for the coordination and execution of data governance activities to drive adoption of enterprise data governance capabilities across Blue Shield of California. This position requires the ability to effectively manage the team and collaborate within his/her own department and across broad parts of the organization.

The Enterprise Data Governance Manager will support the Director of Enterprise Data Governance in performing the following:

  • Manage the execution of key data governance initiatives through projects and operational support
  • Identify resources and manage the execution of key data governance processes - intake/demand and prioritization process, project engagement, critical data asset identification, business glossary, data quality and reconciliation, and policies, issue management process, and monitoring processes.
  • Promote participation and buy-in from senior leaders of business areas for data governance activities.
  • Monitor and report on aggregated data governance metrics and activities to stakeholders
  • Analyze gathered information and metrics for trends, risks and issues and report findings to Director of Enterprise Data Governance and executive team.
  • Assist with preparation of material for regular core team and key governance forums (e.g. Enterprise Data Governance Steering Committee, Data Steward Council) to re  view progress and initiatives with key constituents
  • Enhance team knowledge relevant to data governance policies and procedures within the context of enterprise data governance.
  • Responsible for building and sustaining the day-to-day relationships and communications with business partners at various levels of the organization, key business stakeholders, as well as other internal and external resources.
  • Monitor adherence to data governance initiatives, drive continuous improvement, manage non-compliance issue escalations, provide training and communication.
  • Lead regular data governance weekly meetings, project, and leadership meetings as needed.
  • Represent Enterprise data governance adequately at the different forums and leadership meeting
Qualifications
  • 8+ years experience with management of data governance teams.

  • Ability to understand internal and external drivers for changes to data governance initiatives

  • Possesses advanced knowledge regarding data governance and help mature data governance in the organization

  • Build roadmap in conjunction with the director and implement process improvements that automate data governance initiatives across the organization

  • Establish clear metrics and communicate effectively to leadership.

  • Attention to detail and effective communication

  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal skills that works collaboratively within the team and outside the team

  • Excellent presentation, written, and verbal communication skills which bring clarity and precision at all levels within the organization

  • Manage teams, hire and train appropriate individuals, responsible for performance of data governance team

  • Experience in healthcare is a plus

  • BS or MS or equivalent experience

Office Environment - roles involving part to full time schedule in Office Environment. Based in our physical offices and work from home office/deskwork Activity level: Sedentary, frequency most of work day.
