The rules engine for the FA&D application currently exists within the Sponsor s payroll system, which itself is being migrated to anew platform and which shall no longer house the rules engine. Additionally, the rules engine is written in an obsolete coding language for which support is increasingly difficult to procure.
The rules engine is comprised of several modules or components, each receiving inputs from and delivering outputs to the payroll system, the FA&D application, and/or other rules engine modules. Some rules engine modules exist solely to support FA&D (i.e., have no other applications or systems that use them),while others have as-yet not fully understood interfaces with and uses by other systems or payroll system modules.
