Currently, we are seeking a talented Software Solutions Engineer/Architect to join the Life Insurance Division in Aliso Viejo, CA. The Life Insurance Division works with financial and insurance professionals to give families and businesses the life insurance coverage needed to help meet important financial protection, wealth accumulation, and wealth preservation goals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

This individual will be a part of the Commissions IT team comprised of Business Systems Analysts and Developers. As a Solutions Architect, you will design, develop and support full stack web applications using a variety of technologies and development platforms, preferably using Java, Node.js and AWS cloud. This role will help architect new solutions, while also supporting and enhancing existing systems. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Architects complex projects across multiple systems and leads the development team in designing, building, testing and deploying software releases to support business objectives.

Acts as a lead to the group on new technologies and industry trends; tries out new tools, technologies and makes recommendations on technology solutions for our applications
Partners with business and other IT teams in designing and implementing the solutions that streamline applications and data; makes informed decisions on issues such as sacrificing speed for quality and when to apply an appropriate technology
Has expert-level knowledge of latest technology currently in use by team; leads peer review meetings, provides input, receives feedback and implements necessary changes for design and code reviews
Partners with DevOps and infrastructure teams to implement deployment automation, infrastructure and security needs
Acts as subject matter expert for overall system solution; provides long term technical strategy for application integrations and software; identifies potential long-term problems ahead of time and designs software to alleviate those problems
Designs component-based software solutions with the intent of creating reusable components, or pieces of functionality 
Designs software that is highly available, scalable and fast
Responds promptly to production outages, investigates root cause and suggests appropriate resolution
Participates in on-call rotation for nightly batch cycle
