Job Description

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience is required plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
 

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:
Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance is required at time of hire (with a polygraph obtainable within 24 months). Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Senior Network Administrator. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation’s core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
Performs Network Administration for unclassified and classified networks
Securing network and apply security configuration requirements
Designs and implements WANs/LANs
Firewall configurations and maintenance
TACLANE configuration and maintenance
OS Scripting (for example, Bourne shell scripting (sh, ksh, bash) or C-shell scripting (csh, tcsh))
Work closely with program/project managers to determine future network needs and plan for network changes
Provide patches and remediation per the security requirements
Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of a group of computers running on one or more operating systems
Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems
Serves as a front line interface to users with technical issues
Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchase
Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal database staff
Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies
Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users
The Server System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of Server services
Performs Server administration for Server Operating Systems
Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers
Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical and virtual hardware
Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers
Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers
Monitors Physical and Virtual Servers performance using monitoring tools
Performs, maintains, troubleshoots and does analysis of alerts on Servers
Creates scripts to automate repetitive processes
Work with customers to identify, isolate, and resolve problems with Servers that are effecting other services
Contributes and executes plans, designs, and implements necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies, procedures for servers
Executes and maintains Security Compliancy processes and policies
Develops and maintains Server related standards, policies, and procedures
Mentor team in the technology to allow them to be more knowledgably and self-sufficient
Reviews and analyzes performance metrics in order to optimize environment for efficiencies
Implements administration of physical and virtualized servers using industry standard technologies
Implements administration of servers in lab environments that are physical and virtualized using industry standard technologies
Researches and troubleshoots Server technical issues and communicates status to Server team and stakeholders
Leads medium sized continuous process improvement efforts

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Windows and/or Unix System administration
Clearcase/ClearQuest/SolarWinds/Clearpass experience
Network Adminstration
TACLANE and FIREWALL administration

Advanced knowledge of Physical and Virtual Server support
Advanced knowledge of access, permissions and security that gives the clients the access to the data they need to perform their daily activities
