job Description: 

As an Oracle Database Administrator, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining database systems within Ferguson's technical environment to include installation, configuration, development, monitoring, planning, data management, and troubleshooting. The position will work with stakeholders, team members, and sponsors to manage database software including, but not limited to , Oracle. Ensure the quality and delivery of technical operations supporting the business is in a ccordance with agreed standards 
  • Provide technical support by collaborating with systems analysts, developers, business analysts, and project teams 
  • Perform proactive review of systems logs, performance metrics , and alerts to ensure event correlation and trend analysis a re performed on a regular basis 
  • Support real-time monitoring utilizing Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for all Oracle databases 
  • Provide server and database support, including installation, patching, upgrading , maintenance , and backups on Oracle and MS SQL Server per Ferguson standards 
  • Administer user access, provisioning and deprovisioning in accordance with policy and procedures 
  • Stay current on technologies affecting current systems infrastructure issues with specializat ion in database technology area 
  • Assist technical staff with Oracle , MS SQL Server , a nd associated software packages 
  • Perform tuning to resolve performance issues in SQL, applications, and at the RDBMS 
  • Write, execute, and peer review SQL, T-SQL, and PL/SQL s cripts, packages, and functions 
  • Write, execute, a nd peer review OS-level scripts 
  • Create, execute, and report on load testing of applications, databases, and servers 
  • Maintain and create team documentation as it relates to the database environment 
  • Participate in an on-call rotation to support after hours issues and planned work 
Qualifications 5+ years of experience with database management and administration supporting 24x7 operations 
  • Experience with Oracle 11g R2 and higher 
  • Recent experience and proficiency with Cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, Oracle Cloud, etc. 
  • Experience in scripting using PL/SQL, shell, PowerShell, etc. 
  • Experience in an enterprise level production data center environment managing enterprise class Oracle databases 
  • Experience with RAC, Data Guard, ASM, R MAN , and OEM 
  • Experience monitoring database performance, repairing deadlock errors, executing maintenance packages, monitoring spac e and updating index statistics 
  • Experience in both OLTP databases and OLAP/data wareh ousing 
  • Experience administering and tuning databases on Exadata desired 
  • MS SQL Server expe rience desired but not required 
  • Linux platform experience desired 
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing 
  • BA or BS degree preferred
